This article analyzes the impact that the election of right-wing and/or far-right governments/rulers had on memory policies that had been implemented in recent decades in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay. For that, events that occurred during the governments of Macri, Piñera, Bolsonaro and Lacalle Pou are analyzed. The article identifies how these governments dealt with the issue, making it difficult or not to implement reparation measures for the victims. It was possible to observe that the existence of governments more aligned to the right had a negative impact on the continuity of politics of memory in these countries.
