About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Drug Analytical Research is a scientific journal published by the School of Pharmacy at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). It is a semiannual, open-access journal dedicated to the publication of both original and review articles in all areas of analytical and bioanalytical chemistry applied to pharmaceutical sciences. The journal's content is primarily directed towards researchers, as well as undergraduate and graduate students. Submissions require authors to log in and utilize the provided TEMPLATE, which includes the Instructions for Authors.

All articles published in DAR are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI). As an open-access journal, all content is freely available to users, allowing them to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, crawl for indexing, or use the articles for any lawful purpose, without charge.

DAR adheres to the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in all stages of the publication process.

Mission

Our mission is to advance the knowledge and application of analytical techniques in drug analysis, while promoting the scientific development of the analytical field within pharmaceutical sciences.

Peer Review Process

Submitted original and review articles will undergo evaluation by two prominent researchers recognized in the field, in single-blind peer review. The evaluation criteria prioritize innovation, originality, relevance, and the contribution of the manuscript to the scientific community. Reviewers are given up to 30 days from submission to provide their feedback.

Review Guidelines

Confidentiality: Reviewers are required to treat all materials as confidential. Manuscripts should not be shared with others under any circumstances.

Additionally, reviewers should not upload manuscript sections or the full text into AI tools to prevent original data being used for training purposes.

General Overview: Reviewers should evaluate the manuscript's overall structure, originality, and its alignment with the journal’s scope.

When reviewing, the following aspects should be carefully considered:

  • The robustness of the methodology, particularly with respect to the analytical standards expected by DAR.

  • Figures, tables, legends, and supplementary materials should include all necessary data to ensure the manuscript’s clarity.

  • The results and discussion should be well-connected and sufficiently support the manuscript’s objectives.

  • In-text citations should be up to date and relevant to the scientific focus of the article.

  • The manuscript should demonstrate correct use of the English language throughout.

  • The manuscript should follow the provided template accurately.

Competing Interests

Authors are required to disclose any potential competing interests during submission. This includes financial or commercial interests (e.g., patent ownership, consulting fees, speaker fees, employment with a company). This disclosure should be made for each author. If no competing interests exist, the following statement should be included: "The authors declare no conflicts of interest related to this article." All disclosures will be placed at the end of the manuscript under the section titled Conflicts of Interest.
