Abstract

To suggest a definition of comics seems like a hopeless task. More than that, it is up to historiography to investigate its manifestations in several contexts, seeking a number of approaches that can make it possible to interpret them historically and highlighting the various possible uses of this graphic expression. Here, we explore the study of comics informed by a special focus on the circulations and transits involving artists and works, without ignoring their implications in the field of imaginaries and representations. In other words if, on the one hand, a series of operations of displacement are imposed as a research topic, on the other hand, this brings up suggestions to think about how such displacements can be represented and are a central aspect of the aesthetics of comics itself. Fragmented and marked by the articulation of sequential images, comics can contribute to deepen the transnational debate, through topics such as cultural transits and transactions in different levels. We seek to analyse these paths from a bibliographical perspective, reflecting on the journey/ road/process that led to the organization of the dossier "Comics in the Americas in transnational perspective".
