Dorsal Implants of polyethylene tubes containing zinc oxide-copaiba(ZO Copaiba)were placed in the subcutaneous connective tissue of 20 rats and histopathological observed on 7, 15, 30 and 60 day periods. In the first period (7days) the material promoted discreet reaction with preponderance of mononuclear cells, contact necrosis and collagen degradation.Through the periods, it was noticed a decreasing the histopathological events and a healing of the open ingregion. In the last periods(30 and 60 days)a connective tissue with dense fibers was covering the tube and surrounding area was showing normal histologic characteristics. Then the ZO Copaibais a poorirritant material when implanted in dorsal skin subcutaneous surgical pockets of rats.Downloads
