Occlusal aspects of cleidocranial dysplasia: a case report

Abstract

The aim of this workis a literature revision about Cleidocranial dysplasia on a case treated at the orthodontic class at UFRGS Odontology College. The Cieidocranial dysplasia is caracterized by several disturbances that envolves dentition and sistemic disturbances. Among the dentition disturbances we can point out: retardation in the development and on the eruption of permanent teeth, the presence of supernumerary multiple teeth, underdevelopment of the maxilla, etc. Among the sistemic disturbances we can cite: clavicular applasy, low stature, long bones and finger bones malformation, open fontanels of the skull, etc. The pacients with Cleidocranial dysplasia must be accompained by an orthodontist for a long period, in order to viabilize the control of the occlusion development and the instalation of a treatment at a right time.
