Denture plaque control has been described as a difficult problem to solve. Plaque in contact with soft tissues can cause mucosa infection and discomfort to denture wears. Several methods have been described to monitor plaque deposits over denture fitting surface. They are important to show to the patients the goals to reach in cleaning performance and actual denture cleaning status. However, those methods are difficult to reproduce between examiners or they are time-consuming and are expansive. Furthermore, most of them are indicated just to exam upper dentures. This work presents a new denture index developed to exam lower and upper dentures with standardization of the zones to be examinaned. The aim of this study was verify the reproducibility of the new index on upper dentures, comparing the results with other studies. The results showed the reproducibility of the new index proposed between examiners.Downloads
