Upper labial frenectomy: variation of surgical technique

The author presents a modification for ARCHER technique for the surgical treatment of hypertrofic upper labial frenum. Using straight and curved Halstead forceps clamps, the incision sites, associated to intraseptal friction of gauze packs, the buccal-palatine removal of the residual tissues of frenulum, periost and transeptal fibers is achieved. lf necessary, osteotomy is performed during the sarne surgical time. The technique is indicated as an auxiliary therapy of orthodontic, preprosthetic, periodontal and lip functional treatment. The author's experience presents an 18 year follow up and stability of the results.Downloads
