The aim of this study was to evaluate the behavior of four Kodak’s® periapical films, namely Ultra-Speed, Insight, Dental Intraoral D-Speed and Dental Intraoral E-Speed, regarding Radiographic Disital Density. For this purpose 80 images (20 with each film) were taken from the lower molar region of a human dry mandible, using wax simulating soft tissues. Two X-ray equipments were used (50kV and 70kV) and two exposure times were considered (0,3s and 0,5s). The films were processed by the time-temperature method. The resulting images were digitized and their Digital Radiographic Densities were obtained by means of the software ImageTool® v. 3.0 (UTHSCSA, San Antonio, Texas). The results were submited to ANOVA statistical analysis complemented by the Tukey’s multiple comparison test (p=0,05). Statistically significant differences were found between Ultra-Speed and Dental Intraoral D-Speed and Insight and Dental Intraoral E-Speed.Downloads
