Abstract

Tooth ankylosis may be defined as an anatomical fusion of tooth cementum with alveolar bone. The authors present a literature review and report two clinical cases about the issue. The first case concerns an young patient in the early stage of the disease and presence of the permanent teeth. This case was treated using an acrylic appliance in order to provide the normalization of the occlusion. As the appliance has failed, the patient was surgically managed. The other case concerns an adult patient without any kind of previous treatment. This patient also had the element 55 submerged and the element 15 was spun.
