Abstract

The evaluation of the efficacy of root ca- nal instrumentation plays an important role in order to improve endodontic therapy. The aim of this study was to present a methodo- logy that allows a comparative analysis befo- re and after root canal instrumentation. A method based in the Bramante’s et al (1987) model is proposed with a slight variation. In this method, the tooth/root selected was inserted into a chemically activated colorless acrylic-resin, in a plastic mould. After polimerization, the block root/resin was talcen out the mould and transverse grooves were made over it. The block was then placed in to a plaster muffle. Following, this block can be sectioned in the desired way and these portions can be relocated into the muffle. This simple method was efficacious and allowed the study of anatomical morphology of root canal, before and after instrumentation.
