Abstract

A study was done to evaluate the effect of 0,15% and 5% chlorhexidine gluconate on the oral mucosa of Wistar rats. Topical application of this drug was performed on the floor of the mouth of30 animals with intervals of 15 and 30 days. Clinic examination revealed hiperkeratosis, inflammation and ulcers. the microscopic Aspect showed hiperkeratosis, parakeratosis,acanthosis,exulceration and ulcerations,intense both vascularity, inflammatory infiltrated and microthrombi formation.
