This study intends to perform a review of the literature about the use of orthopantomography in pediatric dentistry, approaching its indications, advantages and limitations. A review of the literature about the use of orthopantomography in pediatric dentistry was performed. Due to being an extraoral technique, it is better accepted by the child and its use must be associated to the need of obtaining a wider quantity of information of the maxillomandibular region as an aid to the diagnosis and evaluation of dental growth and development, eruption flaws, extensive pathological conditions, among others. Besides requiring a shorter time to be obtained, it is of low cost to the patient and uses a lower dose of radiation when compared to the complete radiographic survey. However, it must be complemented when there is a need for bigger detail and sharpness.Downloads
