About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The target audience of the journal includes researchers and professionals from all areas related to production engineering.

Articles of interest in Production Engineering are accepted in the areas of Production Management; Quality; Economic Management; Ergonomics and Occupational Safety; Product Engineering; Operations Research; Strategy and Organizations; Technology Management; Information and Knowledge Systems; Environmental Management; and Production Engineering Education. The works should contribute to scientific, technological, institutional, and educational advancements, both at the theoretical level (literature review, "state of the art", etc.) and practical level (research results, reports of practical application works, etc.).

All articles submitted for publication must be original and unpublished and should not be simultaneously submitted to other journals or editorial bodies.

Peer Review Process

All original manuscripts are subjected to a review process by at least two academic peers specializing in the subject matter. The review process is conducted anonymously for both parties (blind review).

The evaluation results can be: Accepted, minor revision, major revision, rejected. The number of revisions will depend on the reviewers' demands being fully met. Controversial cases are resolved by a scientific committee formed by the editor-in-chief and section editors. The submitted originals, whether approved or not, will not be returned.

In seeking the journal's exogeneity and credibility, the majority of reviewers in the review process are external to UFRGS. Additionally, at least 70% of the scientific works published in each edition are the result of collaborations external to UFRGS (with at least one external author to the institution).

Rejection rate for the last year: 46%

Identification of Published Articles (DOI)

All articles published in the journal receive a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI). The DOI ensures that each article has a unique and permanent identification, facilitating its location, access, and citation by other researchers and professionals. This not only increases the visibility and impact of the published works but also ensures digital preservation and the integrity of academic references.

Open Access Policy
Our journal promotes open access to academic information, ensuring that all published articles are freely accessible to any reader, without economic, legal, or technical restrictions. We strongly believe in the free exchange of knowledge and in strengthening global scientific collaboration. Authors who publish in our journal retain their copyright and grant readers the right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of their articles.

No APC (No Article Processing Charges) Policy
As part of our commitment to equity and inclusion in academic publishing, our journal does not impose any article processing charges (APC) on authors. We believe that high-quality research should be accessible to all, regardless of the authors’ or institutions’ financial conditions. Submission, review, editing, and publication of articles incur no financial cost to the authors, ensuring that the editorial process is based solely on the scientific quality of the works.
