Abstract

This article analyses South-South Cooperation (SSC) as a source of non-Western IR within the framework of Global IR, based on three elements: its role of agency, difference and resistance. I argue that the history of SSC challenges IR thinking due to its own ontology, and SSC is interpreted as a source of non-Western perspectives based on its role of agency, difference and resistance. The reflection is interpretative and analytical and methodologically qualitative, exploratory, based on bibliographic analysis. The questions that guide the article are: how does SSC challenge conventional IR thinking? In what ways can CSS be interpreted as a non-Western source of IR? In this sense, unlike an abstract notion of universalism, SSC inscribes a situated ethics for IR. Another way of challenging IR is that the practice of SSC allows us to depart from the avenue structured by the Western-centered international order to imagine another international order in favor of developing countries.
