This article shows how the "knowledge problem" formulated by Hayek in the socialist calculation debate was interpreted as an asymmetric information problem when the debate was reignited in the 1990´s. We criticize this interpretation as a rhetoric strategy that blocked the appreciation of the original problem, although that problem surfaced again in the evaluation of the new market socialism models.Downloads
