    Abstract

This article shows how the "knowledge problem" formulated by Hayek in the socialist calculation debate was interpreted as an asymmetric information problem when the debate was reignited in the 1990´s. We criticize this interpretation as a rhetoric strategy that blocked the appreciation of the original problem, although that problem surfaced again in the evaluation of the new market socialism models.
