ECONOMIC INCREASING AND CO2 EMISSIONS FROM FOSSIL FUELS: AN ANALYZE OF THE HYPOTHESES OF THE KUZNETS’S ENVIRONMENTAL CURVE

The contemporary concerns with the environment instigate questions about the effects of the economic increasing on the natural environment and about the developing sustainability model. By using a sample of 42 years old of 13 countries, this study verifies that the relation between the economic increasing and carbon dioxide emissions have a logarithmic form, growing in decreasing rates. The discovered function is used to foresee the Brazilian emissions for the next decades until 2050. Through these projections, it’s possible to infer that fossil fuels emissions in Brazil will reach an unbearable level during the 2020’s, being necessary an effort of the economic and public agents in the sense of adopting measurements for assuring the environmental sustainability of the national economic increasing.Downloads
