Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript is original and has not been published, nor is it under consideration for publication, by another journal
  • Authors declare any conflict of interest in the publication
  • The article follows all requirements in Guidelines for authors
  • The article is in accordance with the ethics code and publication best practices
  • The authors commit to submitting the Open Science Practices Adherence Form at the time of article submission

Author Guidelines

1. Análise Econômica publishes only original works written in Portuguese, English, or Spanish, and that are not under simultaneous review by another journal.

2. File formatting: Word format, A4 paper size, Baskerville Old Face font size 13, 1.3 line spacing, with a maximum of 10,000 words, including appendices and references.

3. Articles must include: title, abstract (up to 250 words), keywords, and JEL Classification.

4. Full references must be presented at the end of the text, in alphabetical order, and in accordance with ABNT NBR 10520/2023 standards:

Books: SURNAME, N. Title. Place: publisher, year.

Articles: SURNAME, N. Article title. Journal, v., n., year.

5. Mathematical formulas must be numbered sequentially, as well as illustrations (tables, charts, graphs), which must include captions and sources.

6. Articles must not contain any type of identification. Authors’ names must be removed from the Word file (File → Info → Properties → Author).

7. It is mandatory to include the ORCID link for all authors. Once the first editorial decision has been made, the inclusion of new co-authors is not permitted.

8. Authors (and co-authors) with a manuscript under review are not allowed to submit a new manuscript until a final editorial decision has been reached.

Open Science
The journal Análise Econômica adheres to the principles, practices, and requirements of Open Science in accordance with the recommendations of the SciELO Brazil Collection. At the time of submission, authors must attach the completed Application form for adopting Open Science practices. When filling out the form, authors must provide information that increases transparency regarding the research process and its dissemination, including:

Funding sources
At the time of submission, authors must declare all sources of funding, from funding agencies or other sources, that contributed to the research.

Preprints
Análise Econômica accepts submissions of preprints previously deposited or deposited in parallel in reliable servers, such as SciELO Preprints, Zenodo, Preprints.org, SocArxiv, and Advance. Articles published in other preprint servers may be evaluated at the discretion of the editorial team. Submission to preprint servers is optional, but authors must indicate whether the manuscript has been deposited in such servers.

Conflicts of interest
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest of a financial, personal, or professional nature related to the preparation and publication of the manuscript.

Individual contribution of each author
Authors must specify individual contributions according to the following criteria: (1) Conception of the article; (2) Data and/or document collection; (3) Data and/or document analysis; (4) Discussion of results; (5) Writing and revision of the manuscript.

Research data availability policy
Authors must indicate access to and provide the data, materials, and codes used in the research. If the article is accepted, the data availability statement will be published along with the article. Exceptions must be indicated at the time of submission.

Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
Authors must disclose the use and purposes of Artificial Intelligence tools in accordance with the journal’s Generative AI Policy. Análise Econômica follows Elsevier’s guidelines and recommendations regarding the use of generative AI tools and AI-assisted technologies. The use of AI technologies must comply with ethical principles in line with COPE guidelines regarding privacy, copyright, and other issues. The journal monitors ongoing debates about the use of AI in scientific research and will revise its policy when necessary.

For authors
Authors are allowed to use generative AI and AI-assisted technologies, provided they comply with the journal’s AI policy. AI technologies cannot be listed as authors. Their use must be under strict human supervision, and authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy of information and correcting factual errors, assuming full responsibility for authorship and content. The use of generative AI to create or alter images, graphs, or figures is not permitted, except for minor adjustments such as brightness, contrast, or color. Authors must declare the use and purpose of AI tools when submitting manuscripts. This information will be published at the end of the article.

For reviewers
Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents. Uploading parts or the entirety of the manuscript to generative AI tools or AI-assisted technologies is not permitted due to potential copyright violations. Peer review is exclusively a human responsibility. The use of AI tools as evaluation assistants is prohibited, as it undermines the critical thinking required for peer review. AI technologies may produce incomplete, incorrect, or biased evaluations. Reviewers are solely responsible for their assessments.

For editors
Editors must treat manuscripts as confidential documents. Uploading parts or the entirety of manuscripts to generative AI tools or AI-assisted technologies is not permitted due to potential copyright violations. This confidentiality extends to editorial decisions and all communication with authors. Editors may not submit editorial letters or communications to AI tools, even for grammar correction or improving text flow. The use of AI technologies as editorial assistants is prohibited due to the risk of generating incomplete, incorrect, or biased evaluations.

Research involving human subjects
Original articles resulting from research that directly or indirectly involves procedures with human subjects must include, at the time of manuscript submission, the approval from the Ethics Committee of the institution to which the authors are affiliated, in accordance with the applicable legislation.

Copyright Notice

Authors retain the copyright of the work, granting the journal only the right of first publication. In addition, they are authorized to enter into separate additional agreements for the version of the work published in this journal, provided that the initial publication in this journal is acknowledged.

The names and email addresses on this site will be used exclusively for the purposes of the journal and will not be made available for any other purposes.
