O INTRADUZÍVEL E OS PROCESSOS DE TRADUÇÃO DE SETE POESIAS DE NELO RISI

Abstract

The translation processes into Portuguese of seven poems by the Italian poet Nelo Risi (1920-2015) are explored, along with the translator's internal dialogues when facing challenges of cultural or linguistic untranslatability. This article presents, for the first time in Portuguese, translations of Dino, vorrei (Dino, I would like), La settimana del poeta (The poet's week), Il figliol prodigo (The prodigal son), Finora se l’è sempre cavata (So far, he always got away with it), Il virtuoso (The virtuoso), Intermezzo lieve (Gentle interlude), and Congedo (Farewell). These poems are respectively from the following poetry books by Nelo Risi: Polso Teso (Tense Pulse) from 1956, Pensieri elementari (Elementary Thoughts) from 1961, Di certe cose che dette in verso suonano meglio che in prosa (Of certain things that said in verse sound better than in prose) from 1970, Il fabbricante del bello (The maker of beauty) from 1982, Le risonanze (The resonances) from 1987, Altro da dire (More to say) from 2000 and Né il giorno né l’ora (Neither the day nor the hour) from 2008. This marks the first translation of an anthology of Nelo Risi's poems into Portuguese.
