AMBIENCE AS A TOOL FOR HUMANIZATION AND TECHNOLOGY

Abstract

The National Humanization Policy is one of the strategies to achieve the qualification of health care and management in the Public Health System (SUS). Moreover, it is a way to join users as well as health professionals in order to obtain quality service in a project of co-responsibility and qualification of bonds. One of its guidelines is the promotion of ambience with the organization of healthy and friendly spaces. The hospitalization process may cause devastating impact in people’s lives. That is the reason why therapeutic strategies are extremely important. A children’s hospital cannot be characterized as a place that takes care of smaller people, but an institution that meets the needs of the development period called childhood. This study suggests that implementing the concept of ambience
in children’s hospitals is an advance towards the humanization on this institution. With the objective
of analyzing, through a narrative review of literature, conducted through research in periodicals and academic articles available on the internet, such as the ambience, that is, the creation of healthy, cozy and comfortable spaces in children's hospitals, can serve as an aspect of humanization. Ambience is only feasible with the use of strategies that involve exchange among the health professional, the hospitalized child and their relatives. It also includes the use of architecture itself as a way of
providing well-being to the children and their families, as well as promoting the development health professionals work. Ambience, as a process of humanization is pointed out as a way of rescuing human dignity, but it will only be a reality if its real importance is understood and professionals feel they are protagonists in this process.
