Abstract

Este artigo discute a importância da educação em direitos humanos no processo de formação cidadã e no fortalecimento da democracia. Essa formação é entendida a partir dos conceitos de democracia e de cidadania ativa. O que também se busca é refletir sobre o respeito à diversidade cultural e à dignidade do ser humano, já que o multiculturalismo deve articular-se à promoção dos direitos humanos. O texto pretende contribuir para a reflexão sobre as dificuldades e possibilidades existentes no país em relação a estes temas.
