O argumento teleológico: divergências entre os pensamentos de Tomás de Aquino e William Paley

Abstract

The following article aims to present two versions of the teleological argument for the existence of God: Thomas Aquinas's (1224-1274) Fifth Way and William Paley's (1743-1805) argument from design. Although they are versions of the teleological argument, they are both based on different principles and observations and, therefore, differ in their applications. The present text is, therefore, a presentation and explanation of the arguments; it is not our intention to defend them here. Thus, the objective is to present the arguments, highlighting their differences and principles.
