This article has as main objective, to discuss the importance of geography to reflect on the phenomenon of the urban violence in the classroom. The investigation procedures were based on a bibliographical research through books, scientific articles and sources researched on websites. Besides that, interviews were conducted with 04 (four) geography teachers from Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Piauí - IFPI, Campus Teresina Central. This discussion was constructed, taking as reference the works by Cavalcanti (2001, 2002), Callai (2001), Tardif (2012), Bauman (2009), Rodrigues (2002), Queiroz (2002), among others. As a result, it was found that is possible to reflect on the urban violence phenomenon, from a geographical perspective. In this sense, geography as a science that studies the spatial organization, can be neither omitted from this debate, nor disregard the urban violence as a social phenomenon which influences on the spatial organization, on social relations, therefore, on the urban people’s way of lifeDownloads
