Geographies, imaginaries and transmedia storytelling

Abstract

The dialogue between Geography and audiovisual works has grown in recent decades, promoting geographical reflections on ways of seeing the geographic space and, more precisely, the city. Currently, oneirics serial fictions have gained importance and investigating the spatial discourses present in these works is pertinent to Geography. Even more pertinent is when these works are included within transmedia storytelling, which promote the dialogue of different languages and foster the current media experience. Therefore, this article investigates the spatial discourses about the city in the fictional series O Daredevil on the Netflix streaming platform. Therefore, it makes use of a bibliographic review and the interpretation of elements of the audiovisual work, such as narrative structure, intertextuality and landscapes. The narrative discourses, alluding to other languages and worldviews, evidence the city from a negative perspective
