Meu Chão is a documentary, dreamed of for many years, about the Black Social Clubs of Rio Grande do Sul. It was only made possible in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, thanks to the Aldir Blanc 1 emergency law, in 2021. As a project, in front of a large collection of printed matter, the film foresaw trips to all regions of the state, with a record of the activities of the clubs today. The filming schedule was between the waves of the pandemic and our incursions into Rio Grande do Sul had to be suspenseful. To sew the visible and the invisible, in addition to the representations of the photographs, the artist Mitti Mendonça made interventions with threads and needles in the plots of the script. In this article, I discuss the process of filmmaking and research aligned with other practices of contemporary art, fabulation and ethnographic imagination. Also through other previous films I try to show, in a didactic way, how the notion of "fabulation" can be useful to us in dealing with photographs and lacunar archives and in the construction of script that project other futures and contribute to the "politics of memory".
