Abstract

This article offers an anthropological reflection on medicine as a social and ontopolitical practice, based on the work of Annemarie Mol. It argues that Mol breaks with the view of medicine as a representation of fixed biological entities, emphasizing the production of diseases, bodies, and care within situated clinical practices. The discussion addresses the ontological multiplicity of diseases, the performativity of medical technologies, the normative effects of protocols, and the critique of the logic of individual choice. Instead of understanding the clinic as a site for applying universal knowledge, it is proposed as a space for the practical composition of worlds, where care emerges through improvisation, attentive listening, and responsiveness. Medicine is thus approached as a central dimension of contemporary societies, marked by disputes, exclusions, and possibilities for reinvention. This text contributes to rethinking care, health, and the body beyond traditional biomedical paradigms.
