Abstract

This article is the first in an ongoing series of photographing and walking around the Center of Natal. With the move to the capital of Rio Grande do Norte just over a year ago, I started recording the central part of the city for a personal project. Being able to create a collection of memories from the experience of discovering the alleys and streets of a new place. Among spaces that protect the memory and culture of Rio Grande do Norte, there are empty and abandoned buildings and houses. Traveling different paths and allowing myself to get lost through the scars of the past and the possibility of inventing other futures made the experience of a new home possible. Between words and photographs it is possible to create paths. Get lost in crossroads and ruins, redraw borders and invent a new map. To this end, I speak with Francesco Careri and the Stalkers project, both to reflect on walking and the importance of stopping. I start from Anna Tsing to think about landscapes and ruins. I turn to Jacques Rancière to share the sensible and to Walidah Imarischa to fable other possible worlds.
