Abstract

Ingold argues that to lead life is to lay down a line, ergo, he claims for one anthropology of lines. Drawing a meshwork is starting from the premise that “every living being is a line or, better, a bundle of lines”. However, although drawings, photos, graphics coexist with writing in anthropological companion “graphy” (not graphics, stricto sensu, but, including them as well), in this knowledge it is the writing that is encompassing. The experiment proposed by this essay is to translate three life narratives into meshworks to suggest that lines, writing and drawing in anthropology could intertwine as String Figures (Haraway, 2016).
