Abstract

I report the research carried out in July and August 2022 in the city of Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil. On this occasion I was a researcher with a CIERA grant (France), an institution linked to the Center for European and German Studies, in one of its projects based at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio
Grande do Sul. The postdoctoral internship was privilegedly hosted in the Postgraduate Program in Social Anthropology, especially in the Visual Anthropology Center (Navisual)
and in the Visual Effects Image Bank (BIEV), participating in disciplines and meetings.
The subject of my research dealt with the performance of Afro-Brazilian rituals and the relationship with theater. This account takes the form of a travelogue, because my apprenticeship and my discoveries often took place in the mode of a chance encounter.
This writing follows a chronological order to show the sequences of events.
