Ancestral is a diary of an autobiographical play that takes as its starting point a reflection on family violence. From a series of interviews with her family, Julia decided to break the silence that had lasted for generations inside her own home. Ancestral's dramaturgy is built from the fragments of these interviews. This work is the result of the encounter between women in the Parisian periphery, opening the possibility of dialogues between gender and image, through the production of a photographic record of this creative process. The photographs were produced during the play's rehearsals and portray the environment both at the scene and backstage, where light is placed, in the interpretation of pain, violence and resistance by women.
