DRAWING PATHS WITH PARKOUR: PRACTICES, NARRATIVES AND PROJECTS IN PORTO AND CAMPINA GRANDE

Parkour is a practice that articulates space and body displacement techniques, mobilizing
creative uses of environments, especially the urban architectural elements. In this sense,
the article focuses on exploring the narratives of two parkour practitioners, located in
different contexts: Porto, in Portugal, and Campina Grande, Paraíba, Brazil. Therefore,
the aspects emphasized concern the trajectories, memories and sociabilities that are built
from parkour. Through ethnographic data, the article seeks to analyze how the life
projects and worldviews of these actors are evidenced within a cultural framework,
elaborated by symbols, aesthetics and bodily and affective experiences. By presenting the
approximations and distances of the practitioners' experiences, it was also possible to
demonstrate how the actors in question synthesize the complexity of parkour in dialogue
with the social relationships established with and in the city.
