Abstract

This essay aims to reflect concepts used in the studies of collective memory and imaginary, from a critical reading of the theoretical and methodological production of Brazilian anthropologists Cornelia Eckert and Ana Luiza Carvalho da Rocha. Eckert & Rocha perform research in Urban Anthropology, and the Visual Imaginary, ethnography and interpreting the daily life of city dwellers in the context of complex societies. As the object of examining this text, I take the reading of two articles devoted to the authors reflect the conservation of cultural assets from the perspective of temporal dialectic and ethnographic research, which identify references to the work of French philosopher Gilbert Durand, Gaston Bachelard Georg Simmel and Maurice Halbwachs.
