Abstract

The article aims to analyze Brazil's Social Assistance Policy, especially that aimed at the homeless population. The study is oriented towards the concern of the international pact of the 2030 Agenda, to face chronic problems based on sustainable development goals (SDGs). Based on the hypothesis that Brazil puts into practice efforts aimed at the homeless population as part of meeting the SDGs, the question arises: to what extent are these actions really meeting the needs of this social segment? Methodologically, it was decided to verify the service provided by the reception centers for this population, supported by social science theories and UN reports. The result revealed only compliance with the laws, without paying attention to the well-being of the beneficiary, in addition to showing an exhaustion of innovative measures. The conclusion reached is that as this is a complex issue to resolve, the solution is to let them “die” in the streets.
