Abstract

The Brazilian youth population comprises thirty-seven million people aged between 15 and 24 years old, who face some obstacles to enter and remain in the labor market, among them: the high unemployment rate, a deficient educational system for their technological development imposed by the globalization process. These problems were reinforced by the economic and health crisis of COVID-19. Therefore, the central objective of this study is to analyze the job market for young people in Brazil in the years 2019 to 2022 in the periods before and after the pandemic. Descriptive statistics were used to evaluate the results, making it possible to observe an increase in school dropouts, financial dependence and the number of young people looking for a job during the pandemic period, but with positive perspectives from 2022 onwards.
