This research investigates the continued practice of classical ballet instruction for a group of people over 50 years old, adopting a participatory methodological approach. The study was carried out in partnership with the UniversIdade Program of the University of Campinas, which promotes extension activities for this audience. The classes analyzed were structured based on the work of Zélia Monteiro, an artist who proposes the continuity of classical ballet tradition while challenging the dominant discourse in dance by valuing the students’ individualities. Participants’ accounts reveal that ballet practice contributed significantly to well-being, self-esteem, self-awareness, and sociability, becoming part of the construction of an old age that celebrates accumulated experience and life.
