By articulating the concept of “Escrevivência”, formulated by Conceição Evaristo, with the experience of creating the theater show SANKOFA: Memória Afetiva, this writing establishes an interlocution between theory and artistic practice, seeking a connection with black ancestry and reaffirming the presence of Afro-diasporic culture in the field of Brazilian performing arts. Using the work “Escrevivência: a escrita de nós” (2020) as its main theoretical and methodological reference, the study analyzes how the concept of “Escrevivência” can operate as a poetic, political and pedagogical device in the creative process. The theoretical-practical result highlights the power of this concept in the construction, creation and production of an afro-referenced theater scene, in which memory, affectivity and collective experience constitute anti-racist aesthetic and epistemological foundations.
