This article approaches theatrical praxis developed in the Latin American context of resistance to dictatorial regimes in the 20th century in the artistic, educational, social and therapeutic spheres constituted by political poetics created by Eduardo Pavlovsky, in Argentina, and Augusto Boal, in Brazil, which marked the aesthetic thought and projected themselves internationally, since they were exiled for their critical and libertarian expressions in the theatrical area. They are distinct trajectories that approach each other, especially due to the character of social, political and interpersonal transformations accomplished by resistance aesthetics in the context of Latin American dictatorships: the Argentine Pavlovsky develops, among other important achievements, his approach “La multiplicación dramática” (1989), while the Brazilian, coming from his “Theatre of the Oppressed”, develops “The Rainbow of Desire: the Boal Method of Theatre and Therapy” (1992), works that are similar due to their therapeutic group approaches that imply psychosocial changes.
