Abstract

This article discusses the presence of historical and literary elements in the writing of the writer from Pará, Haroldo Maranhão, specifically in the novel O tetraneto Del-Rey. Mixing history and literature, the body of writing shredded in the novel constitutes a textual and fictional game that questions the “official” history, based on documents and witnesses. The fragments that make up the novel reverse history, undoing consolidated images and discourses about our formation, rooted in the Eurocentric view, through the use of textual resources such as parody, appropriation, the palimpsest. By deconstructing official history, O Tetraneto Del-Rei follows in the footsteps of Latin American narrative and disseminates the voice of the American subaltern through a baroque, hybrid writing.
