Abstract

This article analyzes the action of the indigenous people of Manaus and others nation living along the Rio Negro river and their relations with the Portuguese and Dutch advances during the war against these indigenous people moved by the portugueses. Based on diverse documentation, mainly located in the archives of Portugal, the study aims to debate the respresentations offered by the Portuguese about the sócio-political organization of these indigenous people, highlighting the different opinions on the same based on the impact of the border contexto and the disputes between the settlers for the management of indigenous captivity.
