Narration, transmission, representation: a French survivor’s (Jewish and active member of the French resistance) testimony of nazi concentration camps

Through the oral narrative of a French survivor – Resistant and Jewish – deported to the nazi concentration camps, the objective of this text is to study the relationship between a lived experience and the representation of this event. Within the framework of the typology of direct witnesses in the History of the Present Time, the testimony of one of the survivors of nazi concentration camps confirms, on the one hand, the difficulties in the transmission of this unique experience, and on the other hand, the need to preserve a historical memory of this event, in the name of the so-called “duty of memory” and “duty of the witness”.
