This paper aims to analyze the meaning of historiographical revisions related to the history of Brazil. The revisions of the past, besides motivated by historical conjuncture changes or from theoretical and methodological reformulations that occur in the humanities in general and history in particular, they are also made from interests outside the field of historical knowledge. Emphasizing this second aspect, I try to show how revisions are built from the construction and reconstruction of historical memories, on the occasion of the celebrations of historical dates and through political uses of the past motivated by partisan political interests.
