Abstract

In this article I return to decisive moments in Francisco Andréa's trajectory, seeking to clarify his role in the political and institutional life of Brazil and the conflicts in which he was involved. He was a public administrator and had a project for the country that was intrinsically linked to the conquest and colonization of peoples. He was a soldier and politician linked to the conservative party and systematically occupied debates in the press across the country, the study of his writings and actions helps to clarify the relationship between the Army and politics in the 19th century.
