The brazilian rock and rockers in the eighties under the Angeli strips view

Abstract

This article aims to discuss the vision of cartoonist Angeli, creator of the magazine Chiclete com Banana between 1985 and 1990, about the Brazilian rock and the admirers of this type of music, here called rockers. For this purpose, we made use of analyzes based on some comic strips extracted from the publication and sought to interpret them in the light of Brazilian society in the 1980s, with a specific focus on the young population of the period. It is important to highlight that, although the focus of this text is Angeli’s work, several songs and other cultural manifestations are also analyzed, sometimes to endorse, sometimes to reject the cartoonist’s ideas about the young eighties in Brazil. The main result is precisely the analysis of youth manifestations and Angeli’s view of them.
