The National Cinema of Mexico City: darkness, interaction and sex

Abstract

The objective of this article is to describe the homoerotic interaction that occurred inside the theaters of the National cinema in Mexico City. A cinema that presented porn movies on its screens at the end of the 20th century. Likewise, a review of the bodily implications in the exchanges, behaviors and sexual practices in the dark is carried out. The observation work was carried out before the National cinema closed its doors. The
result is an ethnography that tries to describe the dynamics, the participants and the groups that can be found in the rooms. Thus, with the help of concepts from microsociology, socialization between strangers is described, thus explaining how the interaction occurred, who formed it and what elements, regarding the interaction, could stop or continue it
