An interview with the Argentinean professor and historian Zacarias Moutoukias, recorded in November 2018 in Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil), while he has attending the Second International Atlantic Connections Seminar (II SICA), an event organized by the Graduate Program in History of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). The subject holds a PhD in History from the École des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales de Paris (EHESS) and is currently a professor of Modern and Contemporary Latin American History at the Université de Paris-Diderot/Université de Paris. Professor Moutoukias examines some of the historical political and economic themes of the Rio de la Plata region and Spanish America in the 17th and 18th centuries. In this interview, he talks about his education and career as a historian and about some of things he’s been investigating, as well as discussing some of the historiographic themes and talking about his latest book.
