Abstract

The study has the objective of analyzing the indication of active lip bumper (ALB) based on literature review and a case report. The bibliographic research was done on the database found on Medline disregarding Portuguese and English languages. We have come to the conclusion that the main indication of ALB is in cases in which there is little negative discrepancy of space (from 1 to 3 mm) during mixed dentition phase resulting into recovery or keeping space in the dental arch. That process will avoid future extraction of permanent teeth.
