Resumo

Objetivo: Avaliar a durabilidade da caracterização extrínseca em cerâmicas monolíticas odontológicas diante de desafios orais de curto e longo prazo, com base em uma revisão bibliográfica. Revisão de Literatura: Foram realizadas buscas nas bases PubMed, SCIELO e Google Acadêmico, utilizando as palavras-chave “Stain durability, dental ceramics, extrinsic staining, monolithic zirconia, monolithic lithium disilicate”. Incluíram-se artigos em inglês, publicados em periódicos internacionais, disponíveis para leitura completa e relacionados ao tema. Após análise, oito artigos foram selecionados para revisão integral. Discussão: O envelhecimento acelerado dos materiais mostrou-se o principal fator de desgaste das pigmentações extrínsecas. Testes de escovação simulada demonstraram remoção mais severa da pigmentação com dentifrícios de alta abrasividade. No entanto, as alterações de cor após escovação com escovas macias e dentifrícios menos abrasivos foram clinicamente aceitáveis, tanto a curto quanto a longo prazo. Conclusão: Apesar das diferenças nas técnicas laboratoriais, a durabilidade da pigmentação extrínseca em cerâmicas monolíticas vítreas e cristalinas foi promissora frente à escovação com dentifrícios de até 70 RDA, uso de substâncias clareadoras e movimentos mastigatórios. No entanto, estudos clínicos adicionais são necessários para uma melhor compreensão do tema.
