The present study aimed to evaluate the impact of the Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) method in reducing setup time in a bottling line of a bioinputs industry. To achieve this objective, the SMED methodology was adopted to reduce setup times, which consisted of transforming internal activities into external ones when possible and reducing the time of internal activities that could not be converted. As a result, a reduction of approximately 41% in internal setup times of the bottling line was achieved, and a reduction of approximately 13% in total setup time. These changes made it possible to obtain an increase in line availability, productivity gains and production flexibility.
