Estudo Sobre a Análise Discriminatória Multivariada e Sua Aplicação à Mecanismos Deposicionais

Abstract

The uthor presents the results of a preliminary analysis of the limits of applicability of SAHU'S (1964)² method of multivariate discriminatory analysis used in the multivariate discriminatory analysis used in the study of transitional enviromments in the way to find out the mechanism of deposition. Swash bars from the same profile in a site of the western beaches of the Patos Lagoon, southern Brasil, were treated in laboratory for this purpose and the results obtained seem to be satisfactory and coherents with the depositional conditions supposed to exist during the deposition of sucessive swash bars. The limits of accuracy in the use of the method in transitional enviromments as well as the factors involving it are presented.
