Conglomerado Bom Retiro do Sul

Abstract

The presence of II basaltic conglomerate lying just abovo the Rosário do Sul Formation represents one more evidence of the large unconformity existing between the Botucatu Sandstone and the Serra Geral Formation. Apart its peculiar genetic characteristics, which are quite different from all known breccias related to the basalt and to tho intertrappean sandstones, this conglomerate helps to bring out the knowledge of the time interval in which these erosional processes have taken place.
