Contribuição à Caracterização Geotectônica da Sequência Sedimentar Eo-Paleozóica do Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

During the Eo-Paleozoic period of Rio grande do Sul, Brazil, thick layers of interdigitated sediments with a spasmodic vulcanism of intermediary to acid caracter vere deposited. This litologic association occurs within depositional basins established in the embasement, structurally corresponding to the northeast direction of the orogenesis.The revision of the sedimentological, envirommental and tectonic and stratigraphic characteristies identified the Eo-Paleozoic sedimenst as typical molassic deposits of post inversion of the Porongos orogenesis in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
